Websites & Links

To start, these links and sites are a hodgepodge of various things that I just like. They may be influential sites that help me understand my job or life better. They may just be inspirational or fun sites that I just enjoy reading. Until the list gets too big, this will mainly be a random hodgepodge of fun. Enjoy!

Coding Horror – An amazing site with tons of great information and posts about technology, people, and coding. One of my inspirations for this blog. Definitely a great read.

FiveThirtyEight – Data, data, and more data. With a name taken from the number of electors in the US Electoral college, it was founded in 2008 by Nate Silver and focuses on poll analysis, politics, and sports blogging. Definitely a great read for data analysis and other fun sports info.

Unsplash – Most of the images found on this site came from this site. From their own About page: ” Over 1,000,000 free (do-whatever-you-want) high-resolution photos brought to you by the world’s most generous community of photographers”

Chromecast Home – If you have a Chromecast and ever wonder where the spectacular images that rotate through the default screen on your Chromecast come from, look no further.

Hamilton – I find myself being a big showtunes and movie soundtrack fan. One of my main areas to listen to for a while now is the Hamilton soundtrack. There are some great additions to this including the Hamilton Remix and also the great additions on the Hamildrops website.

BOFH – For those unfamiliar with the term, BOFH standa for the Bastard Operator from Hell and revolves around a computer operator and his (mis)adventures in computer support and operations, using his knowledge and experience for both personal enrichment and user manipulation. While others have written BOFH stories, I used to devour the weekly BOFH stories by Simon Travaglia that were posted on theregister.co.uk. Great fun reads for anyone in the tech field, I highly recommend the stories about the BOFH and the PFY. More info on wikipedia here (WPC Score: 12)
